Carta desde Miami

A letter from Miami

Tap any word to look it up.

Dear Elena: Three months have already gone by since I arrived in Miami, and I'm still not fully used to it. I've found a job at a Cuban bakery, so I speak Spanish almost all day, but I want my English to improve. That's why I've signed up for a night class twice a week.

Show English

The hardest part is being far from all of you. I miss Sunday lunches in Caracas, Dad's jokes and even the traffic. Everything is far away here, and without a car it's complicated to get around. When I have a little more money, I'll buy a used one.

Show English

Don't worry about me, because I'm fine and I've met very kind people. My neighbor, doña Carmen, always brings me food and asks about you all. I hope Mom feels better and that you can visit me next year. If you come, I'll take you to the beach. I'm sending you a big hug. Your brother, Andrés.
